Mount Vernon Summer Library Challenge

July 1 - August 31, 2020

For youth from birth - age 19

This summer you can choose your own adventure and participate in our Summer Library Challenge on paper or online! Everyone who participates will receive a free book (while supplies last)!

PARTICIPATE ON PAPER (BINGO CHALLENGE)

1. Download and print a Bingo card. No printer? No problem! Email or call the library at (360) 336-6209 to request for a paper log to be added to your curbside order.

2. Set a summer reading goal: Do you want to try for a Bingo (complete a horizontal, vertical, or diagonal line) or a Blackout (complete all 25 squares)?

The squares on the Bingo cards are suggestions, but you can decide what and how much you want to read. Write what you read/listen to or do in the squares. Make it yours! Change any square you want. Remember reading in any form or format counts, including listening!

3. Email the Youth Services Department at youth@mountvernonwa.gov or call us at (360) 336-6209 anytime during the Summer Library Challenge to arrange pick-up of your free book, while supplies last. The deadline to claim your free book is Tuesday, September 8, 2020 at 5 p.m.

STORYTIME TO-GO

This summer, instead of in person storytimes, we’ll be offering Storytime To-Go - online weekly read alouds and activities for you to share at home with your kiddos. Each week on Tuesday, starting July 7, we’ll be posting a link to an online story and movement, math, and hands on activities. You’ll be able to enjoy a storytime experience in the comfort of your own home, and as your schedule allows.

July 7 - "You Matter"

July 14 - "There’s a Dragon in Your Book"

July 21 - "Arthur’s New Puppy"

July 21 - "The Lemonade Problem"

August 4 - "Guji, Guji"

VIRTUAL PROGRAMS

Programs are one of our favorite parts of Summer at the library, and we hope they are one of yours too! This summer, we’ll be offering virtual programs for you to do at home, on your own schedule- no need to register or remember to attend at a certain time!
