The City of Mount Vernon is required by state law to adopt a balanced annual budget. The budget plan reflects the coordinated efforts of all city departments and elected officials in identifying community needs and establishing priorities within the city's financial limitations. Each year a budget is completed and adopted by December 31st.
2020 Preliminary Budget:
The Mount Vernon 2020 Preliminary Budget document is now available for viewing. You are encouraged to participate in the process by attending the City Council discussions on Wednesday, November 13, 2019. There will be Council Committee at 6:00 pm with a formal presentation at the 7:00 pm Council Meeting.
The Mount Vernon City Council adopted the 2019 City Budget on November 7, 2018 following a public hearing and several weeks of discussion and review. The complete adopted budget document is available for viewing.
