Día del Niño/Day of the Child
Saturday, May 4, 2019
Día del Niño/Day of the Child is a special event in celebration of children, families and reading. It is a nationally recognized initiative that emphasizes the importance of literacy for children of all backgrounds and a commitment to linking children and their families to diverse books, languages and cultures. The Mount Vernon City, Burlington Public, and Central Skagit Libraries invite you to come and enjoy games, arts and crafts, food, and music in Pine Square from 1-3pm. We will also be giving away 300 children’s books; half of them will be Spanish or bilingual. At 3pm join us at the Lincoln Theatre for Baile Folklórico (Mexican Folk dancing) and Mariachi. Mount Vernon High School and Burlington-Edison Mariachi bands will be performing alongside students from Washington Elementary School, the Sedro-Woolley School District and Los Solecitos de Valle dance group from Burlington. This show will feature over 70 students ranging in age from 7-18 performing 12 songs and dances.
