Roundabout Construction at Waugh & Division

Roundabout Overlay

Construction of a roundabout at the intersection of Waugh Road and East Division Street began in June. The roundabout is a requirement of several residential developments in the area and its design is intended to fully enhance the intersection while promoting vehicular and pedestrian safety.

The center island will be 36 feet across and it will be landscaped with high growth plants, ground cover and accent boulders. The concrete apron located on the perimeters of the center island will measure 10 feet around and will incorporate a stamped concrete design with curbing. The roundabout splitter islands will be enhanced with a combination of low growing shrubs and hardy plants as well as stamped and textured cement concrete with a flagstone pattern.

The full diameter of the roundabout with center island and truck-apron will be 56 feet from curb to curb and the drive lanes around the circle will be approximately 18 feet in width. The design also takes into account pedestrian safety and amenities with a combination of new sidewalks, concrete curbs and accessible ramps with crossings at each splitter island. In addition, the approaches as well as the intersection of Waugh Road and East Division Street will be illuminated, incorporating high efficiency LED lighting.
