Notice of Public Comment & Public Hearing - CDBG 2019/2020 Action Plan

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the City of Mount Vernon will hold a public comment period and a second public hearing for the CDBG Annual Action Plan for Program Year 2019/2020.

The Consolidated Plan is the planning and application requirements for the City’s Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), a program administered by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The Consolidated Plan includes a one-year Action Plan that describes how CDBG funds will be used to carry out the City’s Strategic Plan to meet housing and community development needs.

The draft Action Plan for the 2019/2020 program year is available for review. The 2019/2020 CDBG funding allocation is estimated to be approximately $400,000 based on last year’s funding (the actual amount funded may differ).

30-Day Public Comment Period
The required 30-day public comment period for the draft Action Plan will begin April 10, 2019 and will end May 10, 2019. The public and any interested persons are invited to review and comment in writing on the draft Action Plan. Written comments on the draft Action Plan must be received no later than 5:00 p.m. on May 10, 2019, and may be submitted to the City of Mount Vernon Special Projects Administrator, 910 Cleveland Avenue, Mount Vernon, WA 98273, or by email to

Public Hearing

The City will hold the second of two public hearings on the draft Action Plan. The time and location of the public hearing is: Wednesday, May 8, 2019, at 7:00 p.m. at the Police/Court Campus, 1805 Continental Pl, Mount Vernon, WA. The purpose of the hearing is to obtain the views of citizens and other interested parties on the housing and non-housing community development needs of the City before the final plan is adopted and submitted to HUD.

The City considers the view of all citizens, public agencies, and other interested groups in preparing the final Action Plan. A summary of the comments or views received in writing or orally at the public hearings will be listed as an appendix in the final Action Plan.
