Summer Explorers

Tuesdays @ 10:30 - June and August (no July)

Join us for stories and hands-on activities. Each week activities will alternate between hands-on, fun indoor/outdoor gardening and messy science. Tuesdays at 10:30am in June and August for kids ages 3-6 with a caregiver.

Pacific Science Center's Science on Wheels presents an interactive show where we design, test, and redesign inventions inspired by the world around us.

Geoffrey Castle - Rock Violinist

Tuesday, July 11 @ 3pm

Rock out at the library with electric violinist Geoffrey Castle. Castle is from Kirkland, WA. His music from a range of genres, including, Rock, Celtic, Bluegrass, and Classical all played in a kid friendly way!

REPTILE MAN

Tuesday, July 25 @ 3pm @ Hillcrest Park

See and learn about 15 exotic reptiles from around the world. Reptile Man brings in a variety of reptiles, turtles, an alligator and numerous types of snakes. As a zoologist and educator, Reptile Man shows each animal and talks about their individual importance to the balance of nature. Certain animals are available for petting following the performance. All dangerous snakes have been surgically devenomized. This program is co-sponsored by the Friends of the Mount Vernon Library and the Mount Vernon Parks and Recreation Department.

Storytimes

Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday - until June 2nd - Restarts in July!

Storytime is an opportunity for parents to introduce their children to reading and language in a fun way. At Storytime, children have an opportunity to do activities that promote development and learning. We have storytimes more many diffrent ages. More Info

Tales for Tails

First Saturday in June

Dogs on Call, an all-volunteer organization of certified therapy dogs, presents this reading program for reluctant readers (and readers who just love dogs). Reading to dogs helps put kids at ease and makes reading more enjoyable. Recommended for ages 6-12. More Events

Birthday Club

Get a birthday present from the Library! Visit the birthday bulletin board next time you come to the Library. Children ages 1 to 14 years may join the Birthday Club by filling out a form with their name, age, birthday and favorite book. During your birthday month, we will display your form on our bulletin board. You may pick up a birthday present from the Youth Services desk any time during that month. The Birthday Club is sponsored by the Mount Vernon Red Apple Market, and the Mount Vernon City Library.
