In 2008, the Skagit Conservation District’s Backyard Habitat program collaborated with the Kulshan Creek neighborhood station on creating a Bird and Butterfly Garden along the Kulshan walking trail. The garden was designed by a local landscape architect and built by community volunteers and neighborhood residents. The garden was designed in a way to provide habitat for local wildlife, become a public space where people can sit and relax, and encourage environmental stewardship and education.
The Bird and Butterfly Garden was a central component to establishing Skagit County as a Community Certified National Wildlife Habitat site.
Improvements in 2014 In Fall of 2014, members of Mount Vernon Noon Rotary partnered to refresh and make improvements to the Garden.
