Melissa is a lifelong Skagit County resident raised in Burlington. She has lived in Mount Vernon the past 30 years. Melissa worked for Skagit County Superior Court for over 20 years. She currently serves as the elected Skagit County Clerk.
Melissa is very active in the community. She is a proud Skagit Rotarian currently serving as the Club's first female President. Since 2011 she has served on the Board of Directors of the Skagit Valley Family YMCA. She is a graduate of Leadership Skagit and subsequently volunteered as a team coach for a number of years. She has served on the Citizens Advisory and Facilities Planning Committees for the Mount Vernon School District. She also served for a number of years as the board secretary to the Immaculate Conception Regional School, School Commission. She has served on a number of subcommittees for the Y, ICRS and has assisted on oral board panels for local law enforcement.
Melissa is married, has three daughters and a son. In her free time, she enjoys being outdoors and working out.
Melissa is excited to be part of City Council and to continue to give back to a community that has given her so much. Since joining Council, Melissa has graduated from Mount Vernon Police Department's Citizens Academy and has attended Fire Ops 101. She is now Chair of the Public Safety Committee.
