This workshop explores scumbling, floated bending, and color distribution. Participants will learn the technique of scumbling to use the texture of the paper in your composition, as well as floated blending of paint and loaded variegated paint to add richness and depth to space. This week's theme will be to paint a Washington landscape using the contrasts of the natural shapes/spaces/forms with the addition of a bit of architecture such as farm buildings, barns, or town buildings. Please bring to class a picture of your favorite barn. We will transfer your drawing to the paper in conte and a bit of wax to create a resist, and the complete the work in watercolor. All painting and drawing materials provided.
