Good News and a little more to Finish!
We are very happy to announce that we have been awarded a significant grant of $12.5 million from the U.S. Department of Transportation. This grant, made possible through the 2021 Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, is specifically designated to support the construction of electric vehicle infrastructure.
With the $12.5 million grant secured, we are pleased to inform you that both the interior and exterior construction of the Mount Vernon Library Commons is now fully funded. This remarkable milestone marks a significant step forward in realizing our vision for a dynamic and inclusive space that serves as a central hub for knowledge, collaboration, and community engagement.
As we move forward with this groundbreaking initiative, we continue to turn to our community for assistance. This wonderful, new building deserves all that we can give it in terms of staff support, materials, and programs. The Mount Vernon Library Foundation is now channeling its fundraising efforts toward expanding and sustaining services to fully meet the diverse needs of our community in the new Library Commons.
Current Mount Vernon Library Commons fundraising needs include:
- Book Collection: children, teen, general, and multilanguage
- Teen Center: STEM equipment
- Commercial Kitchen: cooking and baking essentials
