Critical Areas 

Consistent with State Law the City regulates the following critical areas:

  • Aquifer Recharge Areas;
  • Fish and Wildlife Habitat Areas;
  • Steep slopes;
  • Streams; and,
  • Wetlands.

The Skagit River, a major salmon system, flows through the City along with a number of other fish bearing streams. In addition, wetlands and steep slopes are located throughout the City.
