Budget Process
The City of Mount Vernon is required by state law to adopt a balanced annual budget. The budget plan reflects the coordinated efforts of all city departments and elected officials in identifying community needs and establishing priorities within the city’s financial limitations. Each year a budget is completed and adopted by December 31st.

2026 Preliminary Budget

The City's 2026 Preliminary Budget is complete.  There will be a public hearing at 6:00PM PST Wednesday, November 19, 2025.

2025 Adopted Budget

The City of Mount Vernon's prior year budget documents can be viewed by clicking the links for each of the appropriate years; 2024, 2023, 2022, 2021, 2020, 2019, 2018, 2017, 2016, 2015, 2014, 2013, 2012, and 2011. The City Library carries full versions of all budgets. These documents are presented with the understanding that it is dated information and should be considered historical reference only.
